A total of 467 manufacturing projects from the UK with an investment of USD10.16 billion have been implemented in Malaysia as at December 2019. These projects have created about 40,000 employment opportunities in the country.

MIDA being the principal investment promotion agency in the country, will continue to work closely with an investment ecosystem partners such as BMCC to facilitate existing and new businesses to make Malaysia as their global supply chain hub in ASEAN.

The Government has also agreed upon the establishment of the Joint Committee (JC) on Bilateral Trade and Investment Cooperation between both the Government of Malaysia and the UK. This JC is poised to further strengthen the UK-Malaysia economic relationship, particularly to make Malaysia as a preferred hub for UK businesses for their operations in ASEAN countries.

As Malaysia is now moving forward to reboot, restart and revitalise the economy, Malaysia’s comprehensive short term Economic Recovery Plan, or better known as PENJANA will continue the momentum by offering attractive support packages for new and existing businesses to further invest in the country and mitigate the supply chain disruption.
