Electrical & Electronic Products – Electrical Products

Electrical Products

The electrical products sub-sector is a crucial asset to the country’s economy, fostering synergy across various sectors and empowering diverse businesses. It covers the manufacturing of electrical products and renewable energy devices, including electronic motors, generators, transformers, distribution apparatuses, switches, solar cells, modules, and balance of systems.

The current industry trend has shifted towards developing innovative, higher value-added products that integrate Industry 4.0 elements. A notable example includes IoT-embedded electrical products, such as smart asset monitoring for switchgear and smart metering.

MIDA welcomes investments, especially in the production of higher value-added products. We prioritise product quality, R&D efforts, cost-effectiveness, and contributions to the adoption of new technologies.

System Integrators

Many Malaysian domestic players produce electrical products to support TNB, the main energy provider in the country. Notably, Malaysia has successfully developed an integrated ecosystem of solar-based products with the presence of major global players in the country. Six out of 10 of the world’s largest solar PV companies operate in Malaysia. This includes First Solar, SunPower, LONGi, Risen Energy, JA Solar, Jinko Solar and Hanwha Q Cells.
