About MIDA

Incorporated in 1967 as a statutory body under the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA) Act, MIDA’s mandate is to harmonise government promotion efforts, optimise resources, and establish effective structured investment promotion agency (IPA) governance. This empowers MIDA to attract investments, fostering positive economic spillover effects, and aligning with national goals. Today, MIDA stands as the Malaysian Government’s leading and forward-thinking agency, creating new pathways for growth and development in the manufacturing and services sectors.

MIDA as Your Key Investment

To further strengthen MIDA’s role in assisting investors, MIDA’s headquarters in Kuala Lumpur hosts senior representatives from key government agencies—the Department of Labour, Immigration Department, and Royal Malaysian Customs—to provide valuable guidance on government policies and procedures. Additionally, MIDA works closely with the Department of Environment, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), and Telekom Malaysia Berhad to equip investors with the necessary resources for their businesses and investments.

MIDA evaluates the following applications for projects in the manufacturing sector and selected services sub-sectors:

  • Manufacturing licenses
  • Tax incentives
  • Expatriate posts
  • Duty exemption on raw materials and components
  • Duty exemption on machinery and equipment for the agricultural sector and any selected services sectors
  • Regional establishments

A Symbol of Commitment

MIDA’s logo serves as a powerful symbol of commitment to chart new directions for Malaysia. The bold block letters of MIDA not only exude professionalism but also reflect the organization’s unwavering integrity.

In terms of colour, the neutral and reliable connotations are embodied by the shade of grey. Meanwhile, the vibrant and forward-thinking nature of MIDA is represented by the eye-catching red motif, resembling an arrow propelling forward, signifying our cutting-edge and pioneering spirit.
