Renewable Energy
As the world heeds the call of ‘more sustainable energy’ and ‘less carbon’, Renewable Energy (RE) has emerged as one of the fastest-growing sources of energy generation. RE is anticipated to be the largest source of power by 2040.
RE refers to any form of primary energy which originates from non-depleting resources such as solar, biomass, biogas, mini-hydro and geothermal energy. In Malaysia, solar energy projects are the most widespread RE due to the lower production cost of photovoltaic (PV) equipment and easier financing for green projects.

The Government continued to prioritise green adoption by extending the Green Investment Tax Allowance for the purchase of green technology assets and Green Income Tax Exemption on the use of green technology services until 2023. The ITE was also extended for companies which undertake solar leasing activities to increase participation in the Net Energy Metering Scheme (NEM) which was introduced by the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA).
