Samaiden wins RM60 mil EPCC job for 15MW solar plant in Penan

12 Nov 2021

Samaiden Group Bhd said it has secured a RM60.05 million contract to undertake engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) works for a 15MWac large scale solar photovoltaic power plant in Penang.

Samaiden said its wholly-owned unit Samaiden Sdn Bhd accepted the letter of award from Bakateam Services Sdn Bhd for the project in Simpang Ampat, Seberang Perai.

The project is scheduled for completion on Dec 1, 2022, the company said. The defect liability for the project is 24 months from the date of commercial operations, it added.

This is the fourth renewable energy EPCC contract announced by the group in 2021, after a 2MWac biomass plant in Terengganu worth RM25.8 million, a 10MWac solar plant project in Penang worth RM46.4 million, and four contracts totalling RM22.84 million awarded by Malakoff Corp Bhd unit in August.

Shares of Samaiden settled down 1 sen or 0.85% at RM1.17 on Friday (Nov 12), valuing the group at RM245.7 million.
