Solarvest, Satria Megajuta secure solar PV contracts

07 Dec 2020

Solar photovoltaic (PV) system specialist Solarvest Holdings Bhd has secured a contract from Southern Cable Group Bhd to instal a 2.7 megawatt (MW)-peak rooftop solar PV system on its cable and wires manufacturing facility in Kuala Ketil, Kedah.

Solarvest will undertake the full turnkey engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning works to equip the facility with Southern Cable’s in-house, locally manufactured and TÜV SÜD certified cables and wires.

“The solar PV system will generate over 3.8 million kilowatt-hour of clean energy and off-set approximately 2,624 tonnes carbon emissions annually.

“The project is expected to complete by end of May 2021, thereafter, Solarvest will provide operations and maintenance, via its Solarvest’s PowerTrackTM service, for the rooftop solar plant for a period of three years,” it said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Salcon Bhd’s subsidiary Satria Megajuta Sdn Bhd will design and install rooftop solar PV systems with 1.48 MW capacity on the premises of HeaveBoard Bhd’s unit, HeveaPac Sdn Bhd in the industrial zone at Sg Gadut, Negeri Sembilan, following three Solar Power Purchase Agreements.

“Satria, thereafter, will own, operate and maintain the solar PV systems for a period of 25 years from the commercial operation date.

“The systems are expected to be fully operational by the first half of 2021, aiming to produce approximately 1.8 million kilowatt per hour (kWh) of green energy per year, equivalent of powering 654 households in Malaysia in a year,” the parties said in a joint statement.
