Slimhaus Technology Establishes RM18 Million Manufacturing Facility In Penang

01 Jun 2023

Malaysian-based Industrialised Building System (IBS) modular home manufacturer SlimHaus Technology Sdn Bhd has established its first manufacturing facility at Valdor, Seberang Perai today with an investment of RM18 million.

Chief executive officer and director Gerald Chin Chung Peng said the 35,000 square feet facility is designated to manufacture IBS steel frames, modular and steel frame packages.

“The facility is 99 per cent complete and will begin operating in July,” he told reporters at the opening ceremony officiated by State Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman, Jagdeep Singh Deo here today.

Chin said the new plant is expected to create over 20 job opportunities to support the ecosystem with its evergrowing demands.

“The second plant that is yet to be opened will serve as the research and development (R&D) facility.

“In five years’ time, we want to create an ecosystem for the IBS technology… we want more companies to come and work with us,” he added.

Meanwhile, Jagdeep said IBS provides construction technology with a new dimension in terms of precision, consistency, efficiency, economy of scale and speed in building houses.

“The state government lauds the persistent efforts shown by Slimhaus Technology in creating this IBS technology and we are proud to acknowledge the homegrown IBS technology created by them in modernising the construction industry in Malaysia.

“Malaysia needs to harness the great potentials of homegrown technology in construction, rather than continue being a user and importer of technology… it also needs to create technology and export expertise in IBS to contribute towards a sustainable growth in the economy,” he said.

SlimHaus Technology was founded in 2015 and provides IBS, a modern construction method, where different components that make up a house are manufactured beforehand and assembled on-site.
