15 Jun 2023

Perak is among the top four states which attracted the majority of approved investments in the country, which stood at RM7.1 billion, in the second quarter of 2023 (2Q 2023), said Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

He said the approved investments in the state recorded an increase of 550 per cent compared to RM1.3 billion in the same period last year.

“Within a year, Perak received many high-impact investments including the Automotive High Technology Valley (AHTV) project worth RM32 billion in Tanjung Malim, the construction of an XP Power electronics factory in Seri Iskandar (RM300 million) and the construction of a mineral processing plant in Silver Valley Technology Park (RM100 million),” he said in his speech to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Perak Sejahtera 2030 plan here today.

Saarani also presented the progress of the Perak Sejahtera 2030 development plan which was launched on June 15 last year and divided the successful implementation of the plan into three main targets which are Economic Prosperity, Social Prosperity and Political Prosperity.

He said that in the economic aspect, Perak was on a solid track when it recorded a total of 294 investment projects approved in 2022 involving a total of RM6.6 billion, with RM2.28 billion involving foreign direct investments (FDI) which offered 7,682 job opportunities.

“Areas such as Tanjung Malim are developing with various projects to attract more residents and workers to move from the Klang Valley.

“The economy there is expected to be more developed in the future,” he said.

From the social aspect, Saarani said the state government, through the Perak Youth Aspiration Centre (PASAK), had held the “Jelajah Karnival Kerjaya Daerah Perak Sejahtera 2030”, which involved 4,314 job seekers with the participation of 148 industries from all over the state, and to facilitating job seekers through the Talent Perak application (app), which is a Perak-based mobile app for job seekers.

He said Perak is also improving broadband infrastructure including speeding up the National Digital Interconnection Plan (Jendela) in addition to having built 71 Digital Economy Centres (PEDi) across the state to provide collective internet access to rural residents.

In addition, he said the implementation of flood mitigation projects as well as the development of public infrastructure, including the construction of the Bagan Datuk-Sejagop Bridge worth RM460 million, have begun operating and provides access to transport routes connecting the districts of Manjung, Central Perak and Lower Perak as well as becoming an economic catalyst in the district.

The menteri besar said that the “Tuisyen Cikgu Saarani” (TCS) initiative has now been expanded to enable students to obtain the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) certificate.

More projects under the TCS include the “Bantuan Sara Diri Mahasiswa” and the “Bantuan Kecemasan Mahasiswa” initiatives which were introduced with an allocation of RM2 million to assist interested students to become entrepreneurs at universities

He said in terms of political well-being, government and opposition representatives are now given equal allocations with equitable facilities.

This includes allowing each representative, including the opposition, to be a member of the District Action Committee (JKTD), District Focus Group Committee and District Disaster Management Committee.
