Nippon Paint’s Malaysian unit buys major stake in Vital Technical

Nippon Paint Holdings Co Ltd’s wholly-owned Nippon Paint (M) Sdn Bhd has acquired a majority stake in Vital Technical Sdn Bhd.

Vital Technical is the biggest home improvement solutions provider in Malaysia.

With four production facilities in Malaysia and available in over 70 countries worldwide, Vital Technical is also one of the leading bonding and sealing solution providers in Asean.

Nippon Paint said line with its expansion strategy into adjacent segments, the acquisition would see the group’s growth as a market leader in the home and industrial improvement solutions industry.

“Nippon Paint Holdings Group and Vital Technical will accelerate market growth and strengthen its financial position through mutual sales while expanding on product line-ups, including Selleys, a recent business integration by Nippon Paint Malaysia.

“In addition to acquiring an excellent management team that is well-versed in the sealants, adhesives and fillers (SAF) segment with specialised technology, the acquisition will also improve efficiency through the increase of production capacity and coordination of raw material procurement,” the group added.

Established in 1967, Nippon Paint Malaysia is Malaysia’s No. 1 total coating solutions provider.

It is the largest manufacturer and seller of paint and coating products in the Malaysian market for over 50 years.

The company holds a multi-segment portfolio with offerings ranging from architectural, automotive, industrial, protective to marine coatings.
