NEC Malaysia to open contact centre in Iskandar Puteri

31 May 2021

NEC Corp of Malaysia Sdn Bhd (NEC Malaysia) is gearing to support Malaysia’s digital economy with the opening of a new contact centre in Sunway Big Box Office Tower here.

NEC Malaysia’s Innovation Centre of Excellence (CoE) will be temporarily located at Sunway Citrine Hub in Sunway City Iskandar Puteri before relocating its managed services and contact centre operations for their customers in South East Asia region to the tower in January 2023.

Sunway City Iskandar Puteri chief executive officer Gerard Soosay said the tenancy agreement between the developer and NEC Malaysia enables them to benefit the society further in terms of providing job opportunities for Malaysians within the integrated township itself, and at the same time contributing to the economic growth of the emerging self-sustaining township.

“We are pleased that NEC has chosen Sunway Big Box Office Tower as their preferred location to set up their first regional contact centre here in Malaysia.

“With the expansion of NEC Malaysia to Johor, we are confident they will be able to reach out to customers in the SEA region to provide them with more efficient services with its cutting-edge customer experience,” said Gerard.

NEC Malaysia managing director Chong Kai Wooi said Sunway City Iskandar Puteri was a fast-growing city with sustainability at its core.

“It is the ideal platform for us to expand our smart city solutions and achieve sustainable development in Malaysia and the Asean region.

“We are looking forward to developing innovative core digital technologies and services that deliver greater social value for a better future.

“Our new CoE in Sunway Big Box Office Tower, focusing on managed services and solutions for smart cities, will also help develop and equip local talents with the necessary skills to succeed in this new normal.

“Through our CoE and our world-leading solutions, we want to help Malaysia in its transformation to an inclusive, digital nation,” said Chong.

Located at Sunway’s first large format retail park, NEC Malaysia will occupy the entire Level 2 of the 12-storey office tower, with approximately 20,474 sq ft gross floor area and a floor area of approximately 17,050 sq ft.

The Sunway Big Box Office Tower is expected to complete its development by the second quarter of 2022, allowing NEC Malaysia to start fresh in January 2023.

“We are confident that Sunway Big Box Office Tower will earn a strong reputation for its quality offering, and with NEC Malaysia coming into Sunway City Iskandar Puteri, this proves that our township is not merely built for homes, but it is a township that has the strong potential to grow as a smarter society and a township that is well-positioned and developed to house local and international organisations,” said Gerard.

Being the next smart sustainable city in Johor, Sunway City Iskandar Puteri will not only aid NEC Malaysia in enhancing its corporate image but also integrate sustainability within the corporation.

Additionally, featuring quick access to public infrastructure to ensure hassle-free transit, the township is located just 5km away from the Second Link via the Coastal Highway Southern Link (CHSL), provides bus services from Johor to Singapore, SoCar and Iskandar Puteri shuttle bus services that will allow hassle-free travel for those having to travel to Sunway City Iskandar Puteri regularly.
