NCT Group signs MOUs with Huawei, Green Quarters for smart solutions in upcoming industrial park in Selangor

18 Oct 2022

NCT Group of Companies signed two memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and Green Quarters Sdn Bhd respectively last Friday (Oct 14) for its upcoming NCT Smart Industrial Park (NSIP) in Selangor.

According to a press statement on Monday, Huawei will provide ICT infrastructure products and solutions, data centre solutions, and solar energy storage solutions to support the NSIP in becoming a fully connected smart development. Huawei will also look into providing value-added technology innovations developed and created by the company.

NCT’s MOU with Green Quarters, on the other hand, is aimed at working to achieve a sustainable industrial park in compliance with local and international green building certifications to reduce the industrial and commercial carbon footprint. Green Quarters will support the NSIP by providing counsel in its areas of expertise.

NCT founder and group managing director Datuk Sri Yap Ngan Choy said: “Digital technologies are taking the world by storm, and have undoubtedly reshaped the way we do business. It is indeed timely that we adapt and implement solutions that transcend the expectations of our potential investors.

“While we embrace the Fourth Industrial Revolution phenomenon to drive growth and productivity, we are also committed to promoting and enabling responsible business conduct through the integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) elements. These collaborations will certainly enable us to attain our goal of providing a more agile and proactive business environment, as we leverage our partners’ best practices and cutting-edge solutions,” Yap added.

Huawei Malaysia digital power business vice-president Chong Chern Peng said the pursuit of an intelligent era and carbon neutrality has become a global shared mission, in which data centres will see changes in service forms, energy supply, operations, and maintenance models. He said in the statement Huawei provides innovative solutions such as fast delivery, low PUE (power usage effectiveness) and centralised energy storage to create low-carbon data centres, and to play its part in contributing to a greener world.

“Huawei’s data centre facility business will embrace changes by optimising organisational structures, continuously investing in innovation, building a healthy business ecosystem, and driving the sustainable development of the data centre industry.”

Chong explained that these efforts are directed towards the development of building an open and win-win industrial ecosystem while promoting the sustainable development of the data centre industry.

Commenting on the MOU, Green Quarters director Chin Yee Choong said: “We are pleased to explore this collaboration with NCT to bring to life our goal of driving real change for the common good. We are confident the NSIP’s strong ESG proposition, coupled with our contribution to meet its sustainability goal, will position the NSIP in an environment to defend and grow.”
