MIDA enhances JPC Online Application Module, to be launched July 24

22 Jul 2020

The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) has updated the online module for customs duties exemption applications or JPC Online Application Module, which will be launched on July 24, 2020.

It said companies will be able to submit their new, extension, additional quantity, amendment and appeal applications for import duty and/or sales tax exemption on raw materials/ components for activities in the manufacturing sector as well as import duty and/or sales tax exemption on machinery/ equipment for selected activities in the agriculture and services sectors, online.

“The enhanced JPC Online Application Module is part of MIDA’s digital transformation initiative or Enterprise Transformation System (e-TRANS) to re-engineer our business processes to raise the efficiency of the various functions of the organisation.

“This module will also be integrated and accessible by related ministries and agencies to ensure a seamless flow of data and information,” said chief executive officer Datuk Azman Mahmud in a statement today.

He said the module is well assimilated with the Customs Department’s uCustoms system and is set to increase the ease of doing business for stakeholders.

Azman added said the tax exemptions facility would also provide more flexibility in terms of cash flow for companies.

The enhanced digital platform is in addition to MIDA’s previous initiatives such as the Confirmation Letter or Surat Pengesahan MIDA (SPM) module for manufacturers, hotel operators, haulage operators as well as maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) companies to claim the import duty and/or sales tax exemption for machinery, equipment and spare parts from Customs.

Recently, MIDA had also launched an e-Manufacturing Licence (e-ML) module, allowing companies to submit and track online applications for new manufacturing licenses, expansion or diversification projects, and confirmation letters for the exemption from Manufacturing Licence (ICA10).

The enhanced JPC Online Application Module can be accessed via https://investmalaysia.mida.gov.my on July 24, 2020 at 9.00 am.

MIDA said that the existing JPC online system will no longer be available effective July 23, 2020 at 2.00 pm.
