Malaysia, African nations pledge to boost trade and investment cooperation

20 Sep 2024

Malaysia and African nations have expressed their commitment to strengthening cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade and investment.

This was highlighted during a luncheon hosted by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan to celebrate the Heads of Mission from African countries serving in Malaysia on Thursday.

According to a statement posted on the Foreign Ministry’s (Wisma Putra) Facebook page, Mohamad and the heads of mission discussed key issues of mutual interest, particularly efforts to enhance ties between Malaysia and individual African nations, as well as between Asean and the African Union.

“Recognising the significant potential in trade and investment, both sides expressed their commitment to fostering closer cooperation.

“Both parties also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual concern.

“The discussions also touched on matters concerning African nationals residing, working, or studying in Malaysia,” the statement added.
