Cooperation between industry and TVET institutions must be strengthened, says Pahang MB

17 Jun 2023

Cooperation between industry players and Industry players and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions must be strengthened in order to provide courses that meet the needs of industries, said Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.

He said TVET plays an important role in addressing the unemployment issue among the country’s youth because it is able to equip students with the knowledge and skills required by the industry.

“Industry players should do more to help develop programmes for TVET students and provide facilities as well as infrastructure, such as the latest equipment and technology for teaching and learning purposes.

“Collaboration with the industry also enables TVET institutions to offer programmes of higher quality that are relevant to market needs,” he said when officiating the 2023 Kolej Yayasan Pahang (KYP) Advanced Skills’s Convocation ceremony here today.

Also present were KYP Skills Sdn Bhd Board of Directors chairman Datuk Dr Ahmad Munawar Abdul Jalil and Yayasan Pahang (YP) chief executive officer Datuk Mahmud Mohd Nawawi.

Earlier in his speech, Wan Rosdy praised the collaboration between YP, KYP Advanced Skills, and Maahad Tahfiz Negeri Pahang in the implementation of the Tahfiz Mahir programme that will help increase employment opportunities for students at the tahfiz centre.

“For that purpose, the state government through Budget 2023, has allocated RM1 million for the construction of a new Maahaf Tahfiz Technical and Vocational Education Training institution in Penor,” he said.
