Komarkcorp aims to multiply production lines with new mask manufacturing plant

Komarkcorp Bhd, the country’s largest face mask manufacturer, intends to double its production line to 100 in 2022.
The printing and labelling specialist via its subsidiary, Komark Mask (M) Sdn Bhd, currently has 30 production lines, with an annual capacity of 360 million pieces of masks.
Group executive director Roy Ho Yew Kee said the printing division currently has two revenue streams, with the face mask manufacturing business contributing to boost the printing business since the cost of printing has been translated to masks production.
“Our new factory in Meru, Klang is due to be completed in January next year, where it will double our overall production line to 60 lines.
“We decided to build a new factory so that we could target our export markets to Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, allowing us to save cost on transportation,” he said during a media tour at its manufacturing plant in Balakong, Selangor on Tuesday (Dec 14).
The 60,000-square-feet building will house another 70 production lines, with 20 of them scheduled to be installed and operating by January 2022.
Meanwhile, the current factory in Balakong will be expanded to accommodate up to 40 mask forming machines, with a monthly capacity of 40 million disposable face masks.
Ho also said the company is looking forward to seeing the mask business grow as there is a significant shift in consumer demand where they prefer designer masks or fashion masks.
“Our company will compete with large mask manufacturers from China on the basis of quality, and we are optimistic that our total revenue will continue to increase quarterly in the coming year,” he said.
