Melaka plans to establish German Industrial Park in Ayer Keroh

14 Jun 2023

The Melaka State Government planned to establish a German Industrial Park in the Green Technology City, Ayer Keroh here to accommodate investment companies from the country.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the industrial park would be developed on an area of 464.58 hectares to accommodate 20 to 30 investment companies from Germany and is equipped with various basic facilities.

He said the proposal to create the industrial park was due to the positive investment growth recorded by several companies from Germany operating in the state as well as the expectation of new investment by companies from the country that showed interest in investing in Melaka.

“It is expected that the three existing companies operating in Melaka, namely Infineon Technologies, Muehlbauer ID Services and Leuze Electronic will add RM3.6 billion in new investment in the next two to three years.

“Three more potential companies from Germany have also shown their interest in investing in Melaka with an estimated investment of RM400 million,” he said at a press conference after chairing the Melaka state executive council meeting here today.

Meanwhile, he said a German Week would be organised for a week between April and June next year in conjunction with the Visit Melaka Year 2024 (TMM 2024).

He said the German Week would be attended by investment companies in various industrial sectors from the country to promote products or technology, culture and food of the local community in addition to helping to promote and enliven TMM 2024.

In another development, Ab Rauf said the state public holiday to celebrate the Declaration of Melaka as a Historical City on April 15 every year as previously gazetted would be used as a public holiday in conjunction with the declaration day of Malaysia’s independence.
