JETRO, MITI, MIDA to co-organise online investment forum

16 Mar 2021

Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), in cooperation with the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), will organise an online investment forum titled ‘Malaysia in its Present State’.

The forum will be held on April 6, 2021, starting at 2 pm local time.

MITI Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali is expected to deliver the opening remarks at the forum while Japanese ambassador Hiroshi Oka will deliver his welcoming remark.

In a statement, JETRO said the forum would cover the general investment environment in Malaysia, focusing on promising sectors in the country, manufacturing industry of high value-added products, digital industry as well as regional headquarters.

“We have invited speakers from the Malaysian government and Japanese companies based in Malaysia to touch on topics regarding the latest investment environment and available incentives,” it said.

The forum would also be zooming in on Johor, where one of the main economic corridors Iskandar Malaysia is located.

“During this session, we would be exploring the investment opportunities, introducing its digital ecosystem and explaining the recent trends of Japanese companies in this state. “This would be an excellent opportunity to grasp the current situation in Malaysia amid travel restrictions to be physically present in Malaysia,” it added.
