TPM, TDMY engage with drone industry on technical, commercial readiness

09 Sep 2020

Technology Park Malaysia Corp Sdn Bhd (TPM) has collaborated with Terra Drone Technology Malaysia (TDMY) to engage with over 10 drone industry players on the subject of technical and commercial readiness.

Acting chief executive officer Sharbani Harun said the collaboration would help TPM to better equip companies under its initiative, The Drone Living Lab, which is intended to be a testbed, creating a structured innovation ecosystem in experimental development for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

TDMY chief executive officer Izwan Zainal Abidin said the company’s goal is to provide best-in-class technology solutions to Malaysia, helping its partners and clients to solve their operational challenges.

“Offering the latest lineup of professional drone services and systems from our 15 global offices, we can help our partners achieve a new level of efficiency and undergo digital transformation,” he said at the Terra Drone Tech Day 2020 here, today.

While urging local drone industry players to support efforts to establish a strong, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, Sharbani said the government has also implemented various plans and strategies for the industry, including the National Technology & Innovation Sandbox (NTIS) under the Short-Term Economic Recovery Plan (Penjana).

“The NTIS is intended to be a ‘safe place’ to allow innovators to test their products, services, business models and delivery mechanism in a live environment.

“This means the process of pilot testing of new technologies, such as drone delivery and self-driving vehicles, can be conducted more efficiently,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sharbani said the participants of the half-day seminar should leverage the gathering as a valuable platform to share information, explore opportunities and address challenges facing the drone ecosystem.
