Jabil first made inroads into Asia with its Penang facility over 20 years ago. Incorporated in 1995, Jabil Penang began its operations from a leased office building and gradually expanded its footprint, capabilities and service offerings over the years.
Today, Jabil Penang offers advanced manufacturing, testing and distribution to global customers across a diverse range of industries including capital equipment, computing and storage, defense and aerospace, healthcare, industrial and energy, networking and telecommunications, and also conducts research and development of next-generation electronics. Our footprint in the Bayan Lepas Free Trade Zone now spans close to a million square feet across several facilities which house both manufacturing and shared services operation. Jabil Penang is also the proud recipient of numerous industry awards and is consistently rated by customers as “Best in Class” in the areas of technology, quality, responsiveness, delivery, cost, environmental awareness and business management.
In shared services operations, Jabil’s Global Business Center (GBC) recently announced its expansion plans. Established in Penang since 2009, the GBC houses Jabil’s global IT, Supply Chain, Centralized Procurement and Finance functions, and is presently one of the largest shared services center in Penang with 850 professionals.
Malaysia’s highly skilled talent pool, developed infrastructure, pro-business policies and political stability make it conducive for us to operate here. The Malaysian government and its agencies including the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), have also been extremely supportive and helpful in facilitating our operations and expansion plans. Certainly, Malaysia is a vital link in the global electronics supply chain, and Jabil’s continued investment over the years reflects our confidence in the country’s future potential.
