The International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM) is the largest trade event for green technologies and eco-solutions in South East Asia. IGEM continues to be a highly anticipated event for solution providers and green energy businesses to showcase their latest innovations to policymakers, governmental organisations, investors and the mass market.
While the adverse impact on health and the economy is unfortunate, the pandemic can be viewed as a game-changer in adapting to a new norm. This year, IGEM 2020 which is organised by the Ministry of Environment and Water in collaboration with Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Centre (MGTC) is going to be virtual from 19 to 23 October 2020. The event will be accessible 24/7 by anyone across the globe during the five-day event. The theme for this year is 'Energising Sustainability', focusing on how green technologies can empower climate action today.
In conjunction with IGEM 2020, MIDA will be sharing information on investment opportunities in green technology for the pocket talk sessions. It will feature updates on the latest government policies, incentives, facilities and support services available for local and foreign investors in the green technology industry.
There will also be an explanation on the Green Investment Tax Allowance (GITA), Green Income Tax Exemption (GITE) and introduction of solar leasing incentive in line with the Government’s announcement during Budget 2020. The new Green Technology Incentive Guideline is now available at MIDA’s website at https://www.mida.gov.my/home/forms-&-guidelines-for-services-sector/posts/
Moreover, participants will have the opportunity to directly connect with MIDA via video call and live chat throughout the Virtual IGEM 2020. Physical meetings between companies and MIDA can still be arranged upon request at a later date, with strict adherence to current standard operating procedures.
