Darell reiterates support for BRI at Davos

Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Darell Leiking has reiterated Malaysia's strong commitment to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2020 in Davos

Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Darell Leiking has reiterated Malaysia's strong commitment to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2020 in Davos.

In his speech at the 4th Belt and Road forum in Davos, the minister emphasised the BRI’s importance in terms of enhancing cooperation and prosperity among the countries involved, the ministry said in a statement today.

Darell represented Malaysia at the WEF meeting, held Jan 21-24, where he met Justin Wood, WEF’s head of Asia Pacific Region and executive committee member to discuss opportunities and collaborations, including WEF’s support for Malaysia’s role as the host of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2020.

The minister also met and discussed bilateral trade and investment issues with his counterparts from various countries, including Switzerland, Turkey and Palestine at the forum.

He also met key representatives from multinational companies such as ABB Switzerland, Dassault Systemes, DP World, Standard Chartered, Novartis, Tyson Food, Airbus, Festo AG, Jumeirah Group and Yidu Cloud to discuss potential business activities in Malaysia.
