Perak Investment, Industrial and Corridor Development Committee chairman Datuk Seri Ir Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin believed the state would continue to attract investments in the second half of this year to breach the RM3 billion mark.
“The increase in the value of the investment is due to the confidence of the domestic and foreign investors compared to previously,” he told the media today.
Mohammad Nizar explained that RM1.724 billion worth of investments were recorded in the first six months of this year, comprising RM951.54 million in foreign direct investment (FDI) and RM772.81 million in domestic investment.
Investments received by the state this year involved 22 projects in the manufacturing sector and 30 in the services sector, he said.
In another development, Mohammad Nizar said the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah is expected to attend the opening ceremony of Perak International Expo 2019 (PIEX 2019), scheduled to be held at Indera Mulia Stadium on Nov 14.
The four-day expo he said, was aimed at promoting Perak as a trade and investment hub for foreign countries as well as a hub for business expansion.
“As of now, PIEX 2019 has received confirmations from international companies including from China, Japan, Brazil, German, Sweden, Belgium and Taiwan,” he said, adding that about 20,000 visitors are set to throng the expo.
