NS govt seeks quality investments via Investment Webinar, Trade Mission Programme

19 Mar 2021

The Negeri Sembilan government says it is equipped with the knowledge and skills to improve the living standards of the people through initiatives such as the Investment Webinar and Trade Mission Programme online.

State Investment, Industry, Entrepreneurship, Education and Human Capital Committee chairman Datuk Dr Mohamad Rae Ab Malek said the webinar will feature Bursa Malaysia chairman, who is also NS Corp advisor, Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar as the moderator for the forum which will be held on March 23.

“This webinar will provide exposure to investors and the community on business in the new norm. The current situation is different where doing business physically may be more difficult compared to those who use digital or virtual platforms.

“We will discuss the post-COVID-19 business environment and then reveal the business potential in Malaysia, especially in Negeri Sembilan,” he said during a press conference to promote the Investment Webinar here today.

Mohamad Rae said the forum’s panel consists of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers  president Tan Sri Soh Thian Lai, Sime Darby Property Bhd group managing director Datuk Azmir Merican, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) deputy chief executive officer Ahmad Khairuddin, and Malaysian

Communications and Multimedia Commission chairman Dr Fadhlullah Suhaimi Abdul Malek.

He added that quality investments could also encourage the people in the state to generate better income even though the country is facing a difficult situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are no longer interested in investments in the form of ‘expensive labour’ that use many workers but can cause environmental damage.

“The state government will be more careful in selecting investors to ensure that the investments benet the people and the country,” he said.

Mohamad Rae also said that the state’s Trade Mission Programme, involving discussions with embassies in eight countries namely Spain, France, Taiwan, Japan, Turkey, Germany, South Korea and China, will be held virtually on March 31.

“The first programme will start with Spain where discussions were held with the embassy and representatives of MIDA in an effort to attract more international investors to the state,” he said.
