Between 2013 to June 2016, the plastics industry saw a total approved investments of RM2.91 billion in 163 projects. These investments have created 12,500 job opportunities. With more than 1,500 companies in operation today, Malaysia is among the ASEAN region’s top plastic export nation. In 2015, export of plastic products saw an increase of 8.5% to RM13 billion from RM11.9 billion in 2014. The primary export destinations include Europe, China, Singapore, Japan and Thailand.
