Legacy Linear Technology (now ADI) selected Penang as the site for its first assembly plant in the early 90’s. The plant was opened in October 1994 with the production of its first IC’s. Penang was the overwhelming choice for this initial plant as Penang had: an established electronics industry with a stable supply chain; a pro-business government which encouraged growth; great logistics with active international airport; safe tourist friendly locale for business visitors and expatriates.
We wanted to “control our own destiny” … having a productive, 100 per cent Malaysian loyal workforce of more than 1,700 professionals, engineers and skilled workers with strong engineering support resulted in a world class factory with excellent service/quality. The Penang operations have sophisticated facilties to drive leading edge technology to keep ahead of the curve and stay relevant in a changing business environment.
MIDA has been very pro-business and playing a key part in supporting the expansion of Penang operations. We look forward to years of outstanding growth and expand the footprint here to support our long term business goals for ADI.
