Title: Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Amirsham Abdul Aziz Appointed as the New Chairman of MIDA
Y.B. Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Ministry of International Trade and Industry, has announced the appointment of Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Amirsham Abdul Aziz as the new Chairman of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) effective May 29, 2012.
Y.B. Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Ministry of International Trade and Industry, has announced the appointment of Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Amirsham Abdul Aziz as the new Chairman of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) effective May 29, 2012.
Tan Sri Amirsham holds an Honours degree in Economics from the University of Malaya and is a Certified Public Accountant. He had served as Chairman and held Directorships in various leading and private organisations.
He served as President and CEO of Maybank, Malaysia's largest financial services group for a period of 14 years from 1994 to 2008. Following his retirement from Maybank in June 2008, Tan Sri Amirsham was appointed a Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, in charge of the Economic Planning Unit and Department of Statistics (DOS). He held the position of Minister until April 9, 2009.
Tan Sri Amirsham was also the former Chairman of the National Economic Advisory Council (NEAC). With his illustrious background and vast experience, Tan Sri Amirsham's leadership will be invaluable to MIDA especially in the context of MIDA's efforts in assisting the government's economic transformation efforts.
Tan Sri Amirsham succeeds Tan Sri Dr Sulaiman Mahbob, whose term ended yesterday after more than two years of distinguished service. MIDA would like to express our sincere appreciation to Tan Sri Dr. Sulaiman for his invaluable contributions, unwavering commitment and dedication to MIDA.
