Permanis Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Asahi Group Holdings Ltd of Japan, yesterday officially opened its RM40 million state-of-the-art bottling line for its carbonated drinks at its plant in Bangi, Selangor.

The new line, which will complement its six existing production lines, was launched by the President and Representative Director, Chief Operating Officer of Asahi Japan, Naoki Izumiya.

The new line is designed to incorporate environment-friendly features with an energy-efficient integrated monoblock which is capable of handling bottle blowing, filling and capping.

Permanis Chief Executive Officer, Erwin Selvarajah said the new bottling line would help the company meet rising demand for its products and gain a bigger slice of the Malaysian soft drink market.

With the new plant, the company expects annual revenue to increase by some RM150 million over the next few years.

Permanis, which is the designated bottler for PepsiCo in Malaysia, today has over 40,000 directly serviced outlets within its distribution network across the country.
