Companies within 70km of Sabah KKIP can tap compressed natural gas
Companies located within a 70km radius from the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park can now access compressed natural gas (CNG) from Sabah Energy Corp (SEC), whose station is at the park.
SEC’s project has made Sabah the first state in the country to offer CNG via a virtual pipeline system.
Speaking at the launch of the project, Sabah Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Musa Aman said SEC’s approach would enable more users to benefit from the project.
In addition as the gas is priced cheaper compared with other fuels, the project would be attuned to the state’s efforts to make Sabah more cost-competitive for business.
He said as CNG is a cleaner burning fuel compared with other types of fossil fuels it would reduce pollution to the environment, which is a key consideration noting the State Government’s emphasis that the growth sectors in the state adopt measures that place importance on environmental protection and sustainability.
